| In 1998-99, Markus played on a line with Mark Messier and paced the team with 36 goals, 66 points, three game-winning goals (tied) and 205 shots on net. He averaged 19:57 minutes of ice time per game and played in his first mid-season All-Star Game. At season's end, he was awarded the Canucks' Cyclone Taylor Award as team MVP. In 1999-2000, Markus helped the Canucks improve 25 points in the standings and led the team with 27 goals, 65 points and 271 shots.
In 2000-01, Markus was named team captain and led the team to its first playoff appearance in five years. He played 72 games that season before suffering a broken leg (March 16) and paced the team with 41 goals, 75 points, 18 power play goals, five game-winning goals and 277 shots. He also played in his second All-Star Game. |
